ABOUT ME
My name is Rachel, I am 17 years old and taking A level media studies. I chose to take media studies because it is a subject I have never studied before and I wanted to challenge myself to try something new.

THE BRIEF
The coursework assignment is to film our own music videos, as well as create an album advert and digipak. I will do a lot of research into different types of music videos, genres and subgenres and the different conventions that I will need to include. I will then produce and evaluate my final product, explaining why I chose to create it in that way and whether it had the intended effect. Each stage of my coursework will be published onto my blog, using a range of Web 2.0 tools to showcase research.

MUSIC VIDEOS
In order to produce my own music video, I first had to research into different music videos and the specific conventions. The definition of a music video is 'a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes'. I will complete more in-depth research and present this in the form of a variety of Web 2.0 tools.

I used the Web 2.0 tools Piktochart and Slideshare to present my answers to the evaluation question 'What have you learnt from your audience feedback?' Through answering this evaluation question, I was able to reflect on whether I made full use of my audience feedback during the creation of my final products, or whether I could have collected more or used the feedback I had in a more effective way. Researching final products similar to yours is important but to rely solely on your own research and not utilise the opinion of your target audience may not have been the most effective process, as your target audience can tell you what it is that will attract them to a product on a more personal level that cannot be reached through research alone. I feel that I did use my audience feedback effectively, although I feel that it would have been useful to me to have collected more feedback from my target audience throughout the process of production of all of my final products. ...

Evaluation Question 4

I have used the Web 2.0 tools Slideshare, Powtoon and Piktochart to present my answer to the evaluation question 'How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?' Through answering this evaluation question, I was able to reflect on my use of technology throughout the process of completing my coursework. I was able to look at the progress I had made from AS to A2, and look at the things that I have improved on, as well as identify the elements that I still find challenging. My answers to this question will be very helpful to me when it comes to preparing for section 1a of the exam paper, which requires me to evaluate my coursework in detail and explain the differences between my work at AS level and my work at A2.
